  • 6 cups frozen cubed watermelon (see note below)
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • Water as needed (to thin it out)
  1. Remove the watermelon from the freezer, and let it sit on the counter for a few minutes so it's not so frozen. If the watermelon is too clumped together, hit it a few times with a rolling pin to break them apart.

  2. In a blender, blend the frozen watermelon cubes with lime juice (to taste). As it blends, add cold water as needed to thin it out, otherwise it will be like shaved ice. Note: If your blender is too small, you can do it in parts. Also, if needed, loosen it up with a spoon, as sometimes it can get stuck in the bottom of the blender.

  3. To serve, pour in a glass and garnish with mint leaves and lime slices, if desired. Serve immediately.

Recipe Notes
  • Special equipment: Blender.
  • Freezing watermelon: Cut some watermelon into cubes, and store in a freezer-friendly bag, laying them in a flat single layer. Freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  • Need to make it sweeter? Watermelon is sweet naturally, but if you want it sweeter simply add some maple syrup or a simple sugar syrup to taste.
  • Instead of plain water, you can use coconut water.
